OT: Preakness Stakes

Local favorite, Barbaro is the 2-1 favorite for Pimlico today, just as Smarty Jones was 2 years ago. Here is the lineup and prospects. Unfortunately I won't be watching the race since I'll be at work-but here's to Barbaro!

Update:

Barbaro was injured, breaking his foreleg just a few lengths in, many believe he injured it by breaking early from the gate before the race was won. Sad, very said, not what one would expect to happen in a horse race but it does happen. Rare but it happens. I was deeply saddened to find this out when I got home and logged online. What's even more unsettling is the fact that Barbaro may never race again. I can only wish Barbaro and his owner and everyone who works with him my deepest sympathies.

As for the horse that won-Bernardini-his win was over shadowed by Barbaros injury. Either way it's was just one sad, ugly day.

Just...There really aren't any words to say about that. It's just so unfortunate... Reminds me of how I felt when Smarty Jones lost to Birdstone in 2004: Just sad.
